We are delighted to be able to greet the great Berlin screenwriter Wolfgang Kohlhaase as the guest of honour at our film festival this year – which we will already officially open on Thursday 6th September 2018.
Wolfgang Kohlhaase has worked together with directors such as Konrad Wolf, Frank Beyer, Andreas Dresen and Matti Geschonneck and has written the scripts to films such as „In Zeiten des abnehmenden Lichts“, „Als wir träumten“, „Solo Sunny“, „Berlin – Ecke Schönhauser ” and many more. Kohlhaase is a sharp observer and because of this paints a lifelike picture of his characters. His material treats stories from everyday life and presents a brilliant feel for unadorned, authentic realities.
Particularly important for Kohlhaase whilst filming is team work – “You write a script with an open door” – and that is how his scriptwriting frequently accompanied the films. Kohlhaase has recieved many awards for his work including the ‘Ehrenbären’ at the Berlinale Film Awards and the German Film Prize.
Kohlhaase and his wife Emöke Postenyi have from the first year been dedicated vistors to our film festival and we are very happy to be able to honour Mr Kohlhaase with being WITHOUT BORDERS’ guest of honour.
