We are very happy to welcome Margarethe von Trotta HANNAH ARENDT, ROSENSTRASSE, ROSA LUXEMBBOURG), a multiple award-winning filmmaker and screenwriter, as guest of honour at this years’s WITHOUT BORDERS Festival. Margarethe von Trottas award-winning RAF drama DIE BLEIERNE ZEIT (1981) and SYMPATHISANTEN – UNSER DEUTSCHER HERBST (2019) by Felix Moeller will be shown. In her son’s documentary film, the filmmaker reveals as a contemporary witness a ersonal view of the politically highly explosiv 1970s of Germany. Margarethe von Trotta was successful not only in the cinema, but also with her televisions productions, with “Dunkle Tage” (WDR, 1999) or “Unter uns” (HR, 2007). For her latest films about Hannah Ahrendt (2012) and Ingmar Bergmann (2018) she again received national and international awards. “Margarethe von Trotta is a world-class director” says Gero von Boehm. On Saturday, 31 August, Margarethe von rotta and Felix Moeller will give insights into their lives and work in a detailed conversation with the journalist and television producer von Boehm.
