FILM WITHOUT BORDERS celebrates its anniversary!
Under this year’s motto About_Tomorrow, filmmakers from all over Europe will once again meet in Bad Saarow in Brandenburg from 1st to 4th September 2022.
“Around 20 feature films and documentaries will deal with the numerous facets of the future, the challenges as well as the perspectives for a liveable coexistence, since tomorrow is not promised,” says Susanne Suermondt, who is directing the festival together with Tanya Berndsen.
The program will again be accompanied by various panel discussions, including a talk with writer and jurist Ferdinand von Schirach about his initiative “Every Man”. Director and producer Gero von Boehm will lead the discussion.
With a musical-scenic reading about the impressive life of Maria Daelen, a doctor and Nazi opponent from Bad Saarow, presented by the author Maren Richter and the cellist Pirkko Langer, the festival is also offering a cross-genre event again this year.
“The FILM WITHOUT BORDERS Festival is one of the highlights of the late summer cultural calendar and proves once again that Brandenburg is film land. There is no other festival in Brandenburg that exclusively shows films with socio-political relevance,” says Dr. Manja Schüle, Minister for Science, Research and Culture in Brandenburg.
The screening and discussion venues are the idyllic cultural barn of Gut Eibenhof on the peninsula of the Scharmützelsee and the Cinema Bad Saarow.
“Even if the medium of film is not something to be touched, it is needed all the more in times of crisis. It gives people hope for the future and serves as a kind of calming pole and projection screen, which is more important than ever these days,” says actor Ronald Zehrfeld, who is again passionately committed to the film festival as patron this year.
The complete festival program will be published here on this page on 1 August 2022.
