“The Bağlama is like the piano in German households,” Derya Yıldırım once said in an interview. “In every Turkish family, at least one person can play it. She is like a good friend to me; I feel understood by her sounds.” The musician is one of those people who grew up with two different cultures. Her parents immigrated from Turkey. She herself grew up in Hamburg. In the meantime, Derya, who learned to play the Bağlama from her father, fills concert halls all over Europe with her band.
We are honored to welcome this wonderful musician and singer to the FILM WITHOUT BORDERS Festival!
Film talk and song presentation after Cem Kaya’s film LOVE D_MARK AND DEATH (Festival Saturday, 3.9.22, 14.30, tickets via eventbrite)!
