From Bad Saarow to North Macedonia: Youth projects inspire internationally

The short films created as part of FILM OHNE GRENZEN workshops continue to travel – both internationally and within the region. For example, the Scharwenka Kulturhaus showed the film KLEINE DENKMÄLER (Small Memorials, directed by Faroqhi & Peretz) in commemoration of the November pogroms of 1938. The short film about a group of confirmation candidates and 24 Stolpersteine (stumbling stones) in Bad Saarow was made in 2025 as part of one of FILM OHNE GRENZEN’s youth projects. Following the screening, artist and musician Søren Thies presented a musical journey through the Yiddish music of Eastern Europe. Further screenings of KLEINE DENKMÄLER will follow at the Storkow Week for Tolerance and Diversity and at the confirmation day of the Bad Saarow parish.

NATURA NATURATA by Anna Faroqhi and Haim Peretz has been shown in America, India, and Greece, among other places. “The film beautifully captures the essence of our connection to nature and presents a moving documentary that deals with the protection of nature and our relationship with it. From the very first moments, the film captivates with a thought-provoking quote that sets the stage for what unfolds,” wrote the Oslo Film Festival in its review.
