“The positive energy of the protagonists is as infectious as it is inspiring and only makes you want Special Olympics even more! “ (filmportal.de)
Four athletes from different countries live with mental disabilities. But being “special” is not their biggest challenge. They also have to face the typical difficulties of growing up, make real friends and define their goals in life. The stories of Timo, Toivo, Uyangaa and Mary Stella show how inclusive sport can have a positive impact on the lives of people with disabilities and those around them.
All four have a common goal: to take part in the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin in summer 2023. Their experiences are inspiring and illustrate that sport is not just a platform for competition, but also an opportunity to gain self-confidence and strengthen social bonds. How will they successfully follow this important path?
“A great, great journey of discovery through the lives of the protagonists. (…) They are wonderful and courageous protagonists. They come very close to us, they are as familiar as good acquaintances.” (Radio Eins, Knut Elstermann)
