“Perhaps the most beautiful documentary in recent memory” (Los Angeles Times)
In one of the most populous cities in the world, brothers Nadeem and Saud dedicate their lives to the idealistic goal of protecting the black kite from extinction. This majestic bird of prey is essential to the ecosystem of New Delhi and is falling from the sky at an alarming rate. Faced with environmental toxins and social unrest, the ‘kite brothers’ spend day and night in their improvised bird hospital to care for the injured creatures. Director Shaunak Sen (Cities of Sleep) explores the special bond between birds and the Muslim brothers who do everything they can to help the birds return to the sky. The film offers a compelling chronicle of the coexistence of different species and highlights the challenges faced by both humans and animals.
“All that Breathes” won the award for best documentary at Sundance and was nominated for an Oscar.
“The power of this movie is undeniable.” (The New York Times)
