This Irish drama is about 17-year-old Christy, who is at a turning point in his life: after being kicked out of his foster family, Christy moves in with his older brother Shane in a rough neighborhood in Cork. There, he slowly makes connections, finds new friends, and gains access to an extended family with a difficult reputation. But his brother Shane wants to protect him from precisely this environment, even if it means pushing him away again.
CHRISTY tells a story of belonging, brotherhood, and new beginnings with great authenticity and emotional power. The director’s deep connection to the world of his characters is palpable in every scene—raw, vivid, and intimate. Impressive amateur actors and actresses, genuine emotions, and a rousing energy make this film a moving cinematic experience.
How strong is the bond between brothers – and can you really start over?
