Sensitive Mario lives in a small village in South Tyrol. He is passionate about dancing and dreams of a career as a dancer. He is eyed critically by the other inhabitants. One day Mario meets his childhood friend Lenz again, they have known each other since childhood. Now they are 20 years old and on the verge of leaving the confines of their village behind. Lenz clearly has the better life cards in his hand than the dreamer Mario. Mario develops real feelings for Lenz and follows him to Rome, where they meet in a gay bar. Lenz does not really return Mario’s feelings. In the bar, Lenz becomes the victim of an assassination attempt. Mario survives and returns alone to his home village, his life seemingly out of joint.
