The scientist Alma works at the famous Pergamon Museum in Berlin. To get funding for her studies, she agrees to take part in an unusual experiment. For three weeks, she lives together with a humanoid robot that is supposed to transform into the perfect life partner for her thanks to artificial intelligence. Although love is the last thing Alma needs in her life between a lot of work, a failed relationship and the daily care for her demented father, Tom doesn’t just let himself be cornered. Because the attractive robot in human form is made to make Alma happy. A tragicomedy unfolds that explores notions of love and longing and asks what makes people human.

The film premiered in competition at this year’s Berlinale. Maria Eggert received the Silver Bear for her role as the scientist Alma.
