Director and author Damian John Harper presents an intense film experience with amateur actors and long camera sequences – a cinematic challenge, brutal, moving and most authentic. The young soldier Gabriel comes back from Iraq to his home in the countryside of New Mexico because he wants to solve the death of his sister. He lives with his grandmother and his siblings. Since he believes his violent grandfather is guilty for her death he swears to kill him. But as he wants to carry out his plan he finds himself compulsed to spend a day in the old man’s company. Grandfather and grandson enter into conversation and discover that they’ve both experienced similar traumatic war experiences. Gabriel’s plan wavers, as does his black and white worldview. He has to concede that he also plays a major role in the family conflict.
