Movie preview ONLY ON EARTH
The ground shimmers with heat. The air smells of smoke and scorched stone. Wild horses race through the dry landscape as if trying to chase away the flames. Set against this burning backdrop, Only on Earth tells the story of life on the edge of fire. Of humans and animals confronting a natural world that is slipping out of balance.
The documentary follows four protagonists, a young cowboy, a dedicated veterinarian, a firefighter, and a rural family. They all live where farmland meets wildland, where the line between cultivation and wilderness is constantly being redrawn.
At their side are wild horses, who for generations have helped suppress fires by grazing down the underbrush. But with rising temperatures, their territory is vanishing.
With slow, immersive images, director Robin Petré explores the fragile relationship between people, animals, and the environment. She reveals how climate extremes disrupt natural cycles and asks a haunting question: what remains when the earth is on fire?
