Festival Preview SUMMENDE BIENEN

In a creative workshop, the preschoolers at the Groß Schauen daycare center immersed themselves in the life of bees—with a visit to the beekeeper, a wonder wheel, a laying trick, shadow play, their own drawings, natural materials, and discussions. This resulted in the magical short film Summende Bilder (D 2025, 9’45”), which shows the social life of bees from the children’s perspective and their joy in moving images. The film by Anna Faroqhi & Haim Peretz was created as part of the youth work of FILM OHNE GRENZEN.

22 LANES

Tilda’s days begin the same way every morning. Twenty-two laps in the pool – precise, steady, controlled. It’s the only place where she can let go. In the water, she finds the rhythm and clarity that often slip away on dry land.

22 Lanes tells the story of a young woman shouldering responsibility while struggling to stay afloat herself. Between her studies, a job at the supermarket, and caring for her little sister, Tilda tries to hold her family life together. Her mother is battling alcoholism, her father is gone, and daily life feels like a tightrope walk.

A PhD opportunity in Berlin offers a glimpse of freedom. At the same time, Viktor enters her life – enigmatic, kind, and a reminder of someone she once lost.

Director Mia Maariel Meyer crafts a quiet and deeply felt portrait of a young woman at a turning point. With poetic imagery and honest dialogue, the film explores the weight of family ties, the pain and intimacy of closeness, and the courage it takes to finally put yourself first.

The main actress Laura Tonke will be present at the festival.
