Screening at the Cinema Bad Saarow

Tahiti, French Polynesia: High Commissioner De Roller (Benoît Magimel) on the French island is a man of perfect manners, but also calculating at the same time. By visiting official receptions as well as seedy establishments, he tries to understand and predict the state of mind of the local population. Angry riots could break out at any time. This is all the more true as a rumour persists: Allegedly, a submarine has been sighted whose ghostly appearance could herald a resumption of French nuclear testing.

For “Pacifiction – Tourment sur les îles”, director Albert Serra received his first invitation to compete for the Palme d’Or, the main prize of the Cannes Film Festival, this year. The whimsical work was also nominated for the Queer Palm.
