Ivie, who is Afro-German, lives with her best friend Anne in Leipzig and works temporarily in her ex-boyfriend’s solarium while she is still looking for a permanent job as a teacher.
Raised by her white mother, Ivie has never met her Senegalese father. Being asked about her “personal background” in job interviews annoys her, otherwise her father is not really an issue for her. Until her half-sister Naomi from Berlin suddenly appears at her door and confronts her with the death of their father and his upcoming funeral in Senegal.
An impressive feature film debut about self-discovery and diversity, in which director Sarah Blaßkiewitz processes her own experiences as an Afro-German.
Followed by a film discussion with director Sarah Blaßkiewitz and the leading actresses Haley Louise Jones and Lorna Ishema.
