“It’s not often that a movie about domestic violence, female discrimination and political upheaval is directed with so much verve that you leave the cinema exhilarated and full of hope at the end. But this great surprise success from Italy creates just such a small miracle.” (NDR)

Rome, 1946, after the liberation from fascism: Delia is Ivano’s wife and mother of three children, she fulfills her roles with dedication and improves the household budget with small jobs to keep the family afloat. Ivano, on the other hand, sees himself as the sole breadwinner and exerts both physical and psychological violence. A mysterious letter gives Delia the courage to change her life and wish for a better one – and not just for herself.

Paola Cortellesi (writer, director and leading actress) is one of Italy’s most versatile artists. Her directorial debut deals with emancipation without pointing a finger and alternates between drama and comedy. With laconic humor, the film shows how women stick together in repressive times under the pressure of patriarchal structures – a solidarity that is still highly relevant today.

“TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY” is an impressive film about emancipation, set in an era in which those affected by domestic violence lacked any support and usually even the necessary words to arm themselves.” (Kino-Zeit)
