Movie preview

In his latest film, WHAT DOES THAT NATURE SAY TO YOU, cult Korean director Hong Sang-soo has a poet meet his girlfriend’s parents: the meeting begins amicably – but it doesn’t stay that way.

Donghwa is a poet in his early thirties who has been with Junhee for three years. When he drops her off at home, he just wants to take a quick look at the garden – but then he unexpectedly spends the whole day with her family. Together they visit a Buddhist temple, eat chicken, drink a lot – and Donghwa begins to reveal more about himself than is good for him. Her parents’ reaction remains distant. The next morning, he leaves without a word.

WHAT DOES THAT NATURE SAY TO YOU is a quiet, poetic chamber drama about closeness, discomfort, and the fragile dynamics of family encounters. A funny, painful little film from a master director – well worth seeing!
