Performance at the Gut Eibenhof Cultural Barn!
The FILM OHNE GRENZEN Festival is also organizing an exciting youth program this year. 8th-grade students from the Europaschule Storkow are forming this year's youth jury and, as part of a week-long workshop, selected the winning films for this year's school cinema.
Together with filmmakers Anna Faroqhi and Haim Peretz, the teenagers watched a documentary or feature film every day at the Schukurama cinema in Beeskow that could fit this year's festival theme, CONFIDENCE. The focus was primarily on youth and role models, racism, poverty, and education. The youth jury chose two great films:
NENEH SUPERSTAR (France 2022), directed by Ramzi Ben Sliman, and SCHOOLS OF THIS WORLD (France 2021), directed by Émilie Thérond. The youth jury will present both films at the festival and explain their decisions.

9:30 AM: Neneh Superstar (France 2023), Director: Ramzi Ben Sliman
When 12-year-old Neneh is accepted into the prestigious ballet school of the Paris Opera, she can hardly believe her luck. Dancing has always been her passion. However, as the only Black girl at the school, she soon realizes that despite her undeniable talent, she has a harder time than her peers. Particularly the tradition-bound director, Marianne Belage, makes Neneh feel that she is not truly welcome. But Neneh confidently continues to fight for her big dream, unaware that Madame Belage harbors a secret that connects her to the young ballerina.
Oumy Bruni Garrel shines in Ramzi Ben Sliman's touching family film as the spirited Neneh, who, together with her family, courageously and optimistically stands up against prejudice, racism, and injustice. Alongside the convincing cast, NENEH SUPERSTAR captivates with beautiful dance choreographies and stirring music—a wonderful family film.
