KALLE COSMONAUT

Performance at the Gut Eibenhof Cultural Barn!

„A documentary counterpart to Boyhood.“ (Filmdienst)

Sixteen-year-old Kalle wanders through a wasteland in Berlin. He regrets a fateful act that will change his life. „I don't know how it started, this whole thing with me.”.
Kalle, 10 years old, alone in the neighborhood at night. First love. Coming-of-age ceremony. Daredevil stunts on the city's district heating pipes. Friendships and weddings. Trial, conviction, prison. The world outside keeps turning. Grandpa wishes for the GDR back. Grandma overcomes addiction. Mom sends rockets into the night for her 18th birthday. The police officer watches over her beat. For Kalle, after prison, a breathless odyssey begins to find himself again.

KALLE KOSMONAUT impressively portrays the life of young Kalle over more than 10 years, showing how social inequality can shape a biography. A radically honest and at the same time poetic reflection on love, family, fate, and guilt – supported by the hope that a better life is possible in the end.

„A beautiful long-term documentary. Warm-hearted, realistic, and free of clichés.“ (Goethe-Institut)
