Young Scot Gemma lives in the former steel town of Motherwell, which once lost its livelihood due to Margaret Thatcher's radically market-oriented policies. Filmed unobtrusively with a handheld camera, this docu-fiction is a sensitive portrait of youth on the fringes of society—in a Scotland that the British once bled dry and that did not want Brexit.
