SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL

When asked about it during the selection process for a casting show, 16-year-old Lea does not consider her life to be anything very special. Her and her family's supposedly unspectacular living circumstances are marked by conflict and financial insecurity. Following her separation from Lea's father, her mother is pregnant by another man, her grandparents are facing financial ruin with their aging forest hotel—and her aunt, who has returned from the West as a museum curator, is facing hostility in the town. When Lea finally performs on the singing show, her family stands united behind her despite all tensions.

In her third feature film, Eva Trobisch sensitively and subtly portrays different realities of life. The compelling cast is led by 19-year-old Frida Hornemann, who impresses in her first film role as Lea.
