Screening in the Gut Eibenhof culture barn

Joy, a traditional 1960s American housewife, wants a second child. But the positive news of her pregnancy is overshadowed by the threat to her own life. Her gynecologist recognizes the severity of the situation and asks the hospital for a therapeutic abortion—in vain. The exclusively male hospital board refuses to grant an exception to the strict anti-abortion laws. Joy does not know where to turn until she stumbles upon the „Janes,“ a group of ordinary underground women who risk everything to give women like Joy choices. They not only save her life, but also give her a sense of purpose: to help other women take control of their own destiny.

„Call Jane,“ by screenwriter Phyllis Nagy, is hitting the market amid a multitude of setbacks regarding abortion rights in the US, making it scarily more relevant than ever.
