Fahrije's husband has been missing since the end of the war, like many men in her village in Kosovo. In addition to this uncertainty, the family also has financial worries: her bees are barely producing any honey. Fahrije therefore decides to make money with homemade ajvar. However, the traditional patriarchal village community watches her actions with suspicion and openly condemns her efforts. But she refuses to be intimidated, and soon other women dare to help her in this downright revolutionary enterprise.

In her award-winning debut feature film, director Blerta Basholli portrays a courageous woman who becomes her family's breadwinner and motivates other women with similar fates to achieve independence. „Hive“ is inspired by the true life story of Fahrije Hoti, who is now a successful entrepreneur and known throughout the country for her commitment to women's rights.
