Musical-scenic reading about Maria Daelen - doctor, Nazi opponent and politician from Bad Saarow

She is the great unknown in Bad Saarow: Maria Daelen was an emancipated woman, a physician in the resistance, and a successful health politician on the international stage. With her personality, she captivated people. In her Saarower house in the middle of the actor and artist colony Meckerndorf, she lived in the 1930s and 1940s together with her life partner Wilhelm Furtwängler. She celebrated summer nights on Lake Scharmützel with her friends around Käthe Dorsch. As an active physician in the resistance against the National Socialist regime, she received members of the „July 20th resistance“ here and even hid persecuted artists there. After 1945, she began a successful career as a health politician on the international stage of the WHO.

The historian Maren Richter has rediscovered her and is presenting her life together with the cellist Pirkko Langer and the actress Marie-Paulina Schendel in a musical-theatrical reading.
