Performance at the Gut Eibenhof Cultural Barn!

THE HAMLET SYNDROME shows how, just a few months before Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, five young women and men take part in a unique theatrical production. In it, they try to relate their war experiences to Shakespeare's play „Hamlet.“ The stage is a platform where they can reflect on their grief and trauma using the famous question „To be or not to be“—a dilemma that is reflected in their lives. The protagonists fight against disappointment, powerlessness, and anger. They try to put their lives back in order while simultaneously processing their painful past.

The rehearsals for the play are combined with an intense glimpse into the lives of the protagonists: a powerful portrait of a generation trying to cope with the trauma of war while refusing to lose hope for a better tomorrow.
