Six-week memorial service

With her mother's death, 25-year-old Lore feels the ground pulled out from under her. While her inner world plunges into an unprecedented state of emergency, the outside world also increasingly falls apart at the seams. She must confront the different forms of grieving within her family and the conventions that rain down on her like automatisms. „What do I have to do now?“ becomes a grave question for her. Lore finds herself in an impassable labyrinth between grief and funeral arrangements.

Director Jacqueline Jansen portrays the Rhenish hometown of her deceased mother as a place inhabited by eccentrics and lone fighters. In doing so, she imbues her film with a positively laconic comedy. Initially, the film seems rather quiet, but draws viewers ever deeper into the plot without losing any of its drama. The script paints a touching picture of loss that invites viewers to view the end of life from a different perspective and to allow for the healing power of grief.
