GERMAN PREMIERE (presented by the Moses Mendelssohn Foundation)
A mini road movie by Israeli director Nadav Shlomo Giladi, set in the Israeli-Palestinian border region, humorously reflects stereotypes and fears in the difficult relationship between the two groups. An Israeli settler is in a hurry to get home in time for Shabbat – but his car breaks down, and he's confronted by a Palestinian hitchhiker who is himself on the run. He repeatedly tries to get rid of his unwanted guest. But through a series of unforeseen events, the two remain together and eventually help each other. The community is not voluntary, but a healthy pragmatism in the face of external circumstances brings them together. And in the end, a semblance of respect or even friendship cautiously emerges... The film won the award for best short film at the Stony Brook Film Festival in the USA in 2017.
