What is consciousness? Where does it come from? Do all living beings have it? Is it possible to reach a mystical state of pure consciousness? And what happens when we die?

AWARE follows six brilliant researchers who approach consciousness, still considered the greatest mystery of the universe, from radically different perspectives: from inside and outside, through high-tech brain research and Buddhist meditation, through the study of psychedelic substances and research into the consciousness of plants. In the process, AWARE increasingly becomes a sensual meditation and a deep-sea voyage into the ocean of consciousness. Large cinematic images invite the viewer to experience the all-encompassing interconnectedness and interconnectedness in nature with them and to fathom the mystery for themselves on their own inner journey.
