Following the film screenings, there will be a discussion with Prof. Dr. Barbara Hahn, literary scholar and one of the main editors of the works of Hannah Arendt and Rahel Levin Varnhagen, and Anna Faroqhi, filmmaker and illustrator (including *Andersdenkerinnen – Annäherungen an Helene Nathan, Anna Seghers und Hannah Arendt*). Together with Haim Peretz, she leads the youth projects of FILM OHNE GRENZEN.

Festival Preview REMEMBRANCE – THE STOLPERSTEINE IN BAD SAAROW (WT) 

In confirmation classes at the Bad Saarow church, the groups clean the stumbling stones in the town every year. The small memorials commemorate Jewish people and their last place of residence before they were persecuted and disenfranchised under National Socialism. The filmmakers Anna Faroqhi & Haim Peretz were allowed to shoot a short film with young people in which some of the lives behind the stones become visible. The film was created as part of the youth work of FILM OHNE GRENZEN

Festival Preview HANNAH ARENDT – THINKING IS DANGEROUS

The documentary paints an impressive portrait of the prominent philosopher Hannah Arendt – activist, media personality, and fearless thinker „without a banister.“ Using original quotes from Arendt's essays and letters, sensitively read by Nina Hoss, alongside atmospheric archival footage, it creates a personal image of a woman whose life and thought were deeply shaped by the experience of National Socialism and the incomprehensibility of the Holocaust. The film tells the story of Arendt's Jewish resistance, her flight from the Nazis, and her time in political imprisonment – experiences that permanently influenced her stance and her philosophical work. A central theme is Arendt's conviction: thinking itself is dangerous – but a necessary defense against the banality of evil. The documentary combines biographical milestones with profound reflections and impressively demonstrates why Hannah Arendt's thoughts on political responsibility, freedom, and morality remain burning relevant today.
