FAITH – Festival Preview

Secret drinking sessions, exchanging stolen glances with a boy, and going to school—Ainara lives the life of a completely normal 17-year-old in Spain. But something is different: she has found God and is firmly determined to become a nun. As she walks her own path, her family increasingly falls into a conflict between love, incomprehension, and the desire to change her mind.

„Alauda Ruiz de Azúa has created a work that lingers long in the mind – and cements herself as a filmmaker whose career is definitely one to watch.“ – The Spot Media Film

The sensitive film tells of self-determination, spirituality, and family ties – with Blanca Soroa delivering an impressive and remarkably natural performance in her acting debut. Director Alauda Ruiz de Azúa approaches this unusual subject with quiet, powerful imagery and deep empathy, avoiding judgment and instead consistently placing the perspective of her young protagonist at the center. A touching film that lingers long after.
