Sold out!!!
Petrunya lives in a small North Macedonian town and is unemployed. After another humiliating job interview, the unmarried young woman throws herself into the stream into which the local Orthodox priest has just thrown a blessed cross and fishes it out. The problem: Only men are allowed to participate in this annual traditional ritual.
What Petrunya spontaneously and rashly did out of frustration causes a huge stir: the men are outraged, take the cross back from her, Petrunya is interrogated by the police, even though she hasn't broken any laws, the press gets involved. Yet Petrunya isn't a feminist – she just wants to keep the cross, which promises a whole year of good luck. Even her own mother turns against her. The film takes place in a single day and is yet a wonderfully tragicomic drama and a powerful plea for more defiance.
