Hi Ai

Artificial intelligence is the topic of the moment; humanoid robots are intended to and increasingly will take over more and more tasks—in hospitals, shopping malls, or kitchens. But can they also develop emotional closeness? Build relationships with humans? Isa Willinger's subtle observations feel like science fiction, yet they are a documentary about the future of relationships.

Willinger's team filmed in laboratories around the world and accompanied the pretty android Harmony and the lonely Texan Chuck on a road trip across the USA. Friendly, educated, and sexually attractive though Harmony may be, mutual understanding repeatedly reaches its limits. And the Japanese grandmother Sakurai, who is given the clever robot Pepper by her grandson, eventually puts her new friend in the corner in disappointment. An ironic and intelligent outlook on relationships between humans and machines, unsentimental and without a moralizing finger.
