Festival Preview ONLY ON EARTH

The ground flickers, the air smells of smoke and hot stones. Horses chase through the arid landscape as if trying to drive away the flames themselves. In the midst of this burning world, ONLY ON EARTH tells of a life on the edge of fire. Of people and animals fighting together against a nature that has lost its balance.

The documentary follows four protagonists, a young cowboy, a dedicated vet, a firefighter and a farming family. They all live on the border between cultivated land and wilderness.
They are accompanied by wild horses, whose behavior has helped to stop fires for centuries, but the heat is causing their territory to shrink.

In long, sensual images, director Robin Petré explores the fragile balance between humans, animals and the environment. She shows how climate extremes have a profound impact on natural cycles and plays with the question: what remains when the earth burns?

Followed by a Zoom discussion with the director Robin Petré.
