Union - The best of all days

Movie screening at the Cinema by Velotel

„Shit, we're getting promoted!“ was the tongue-in-cheek slogan on one of the stadium banners in 2019 - four Bundesliga years later, the traditional East German club 1. FC Union Berlin qualified for the Champions League and achieved something that few would have thought possible. Despite all the euphoria over the club's success in recent years, there is also increasing pressure to remain strong in sporting and economic terms and the fear of falling into a conflict of identity between tradition and change.

Berlin-based director Annekatrin Hendel accompanies the Unioners for almost two years, right up to their entry into the top flight, and takes a unique, particularly personal and authentic look inside the club. A sympathetic and moving contemporary document about the best of all days in the history of the Eisern.

Followed by a discussion with director Annekatrin Hendel and cinematographer Martin Farkas.
