A man like an oak – the story of a family man who quietly and relentlessly fights for his children.

After Nikolas wife attempts suicide, social workers take notice of the family, and the two children are placed with foster parents. Getting custody of the children back seems hopeless, especially since the reserved father is convinced of the corruption of the local administration. Nikola decides to file a complaint with the Ministry of Social Affairs in Belgrade. He walks the three hundred kilometers there.

A striking picture of Serbia and the inequality of circumstances. Nikola is a hero for whom no way is too far for his children and who keeps his goal in sight with perseverance and love.

The film won the Panorama Audience Award at this year's Berlinale.
