Rome, 1946, after the liberation from fascism: Delia is the wife of Ivano and the mother of three children. She fulfills her role with devotion and earns extra money through odd jobs to keep the family afloat. Ivano, on the other hand, sees himself as the sole breadwinner and exerts both physical and psychological abuse. A mysterious letter gives Delia the courage to change her life—not just for herself.

Paola Cortellesi (writer, director, and lead actress) is one of Italy's most versatile artists. Her directorial debut addresses emancipation without being preachy, shifting between drama and comedy. With laconic humor, the film shows how women in repressive times stick together under the pressure of patriarchal structures—a solidarity that remains highly relevant today.
