In her debut film, which received the Bavarian Film Award this year and was honored at the Berlinale, Janna Ji Wonders tells the story of her family, which spans an entire century.

The female director takes us from the family café at the Bavarian Walchensee via Mexico and San Francisco to the „Hippie Summer of Love,“ to Indian ashrams, to the so-called harem surrounding Rainer Langhans, and again and again back to the Walchensee. There, the family history begins with Apa, who bequeaths the café to her daughter Norma, who runs it without complaint into her old age. But her children Anna and Frauke leave the lake and seek their fortune as musicians in the world. Years later, they return to Germany, but the return ends tragically. In a dialogue with her mother, Anna's daughter Janna tries to track down her family's secrets using photographs, notes, old film footage, and diaries.

An exciting journey of discovery and narrative about family structures and the cycle of life has been created.
