Youth projects
The youth projects of the FILM WITHOUT BORDERS Festival take place all year round and are aimed at young people from Brandenburg with a wide range of activities. In keeping with the festival theme of ALL PEOPLE, the youth work focuses on empathy and social interaction.
The films created in the youth projects are seen far beyond the district and Europe's borders and win awards at international festivals. The artists and filmmakers Anna Faroqhi and Haim Peretz, who supervise the youth projects are available for discussions.
Youth jury
The festival program is accompanied by a Youth jury helped to shape. The 30 jurors from an 8th grade class at the European School in Storkow met for five days in July. At Schukurama Beeskow, they watched and discussed five films, two of which they selected for the youth program. The films will be shown on Friday, 12.9. will be presented by the youth jury itself. The program is aimed at school classes, but this year it is also open to interested festival visitors.
A new format is the offer Fit for school cinema. To strengthen the culture of discussion in the youth program, workshops and teaching materials are offered that prepare for the special features of the films with their demanding content.
The feature films selected were
CHRISTY, Director: Brendan Canty, Ireland 2025 SCHULKINO1 and SAMIA, Director: Yasemin Şamdereli, Deka Mohamed Osman; Italy, Germany, Belgium, Sweden 2024 SCHULKINO2.
CHRISTY tells the story of a 17-year-old from a difficult background who is trying to get his life under control on his own. He has to decide which people he wants to be with and what kind of person he wants to be.
The film is convincing because it is authentic and interested in the question of whether people can be free. (Text: Youth Jury)
SAMIA is set in civil war-torn Somalia. Despite all obstacles, the girl Samia tries to pursue her dream of a career as a runner.
The film shows that we can achieve a lot with hard work, perseverance and love. (Text: Youth jury member Yan Leon Harzmann)


Encounter and film projects
The encounters with young people in the district result in various film projects that are shown on the FILM WITHOUT BORDERS Festival will be presented. The focus is on the current topics of empathy and social interaction.
Humming pictures
In a creative workshop, the Preschoolers at the Groß Schauen daycare center into the life of bees - with a visit to the beekeeper, a miracle disk, a laying trick, shadow play, their own drawings, natural materials and conversations. This resulted in the magical short film Humming pictures (D 2025, 9‘43‘‘), which shows the social life of bees and the joy of moving images. The movie will be shown on Thursday 11. 09. 2025 at 8.15 pm ipresented as part of the opening program.
