A GOOD JEWISH BOY
„A bittersweet drama about saying goodbye to home.“ (Jewish Film Festival Berlin Brandenburg)
Bellisha is a 27-year-old Jewish man who lives with his mother Giselle in a poor Parisian neighborhood and is struggling to finally become independent. The already tense situation in the Jewish community is becoming increasingly fragile, as the last synagogue has been closed and now the last kosher grocery store is also on the verge of closing. This leaves Bellisha and his mother as the last Jewish family in their neighborhood. Bellisha is forced to pretend to his mother, who no longer leaves the apartment, that there is hardly a world out there anymore.
Despite these precarious circumstances, he does not want to move away, unlike his mother Giselle. As her health deteriorates rapidly, Bellisha tries to make the best of her situation and keep the family together, even if the challenges seem increasingly insurmountable. A very touching debut film!
