THE INFINITE MEMORY

Screening in the Gut Eibenhof culture barn

Movie sneak preview

After a fulfilling 20-year relationship, the well-known Chilean journalist and author Augusto Góngora and the actress and later Minister of Culture of Chile, Paulina Urrutia, get married. When Góngora is diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2014, his wife begins videotaping everyday moments and her husband's progressing illness. The blend of TV archival footage, older private video recordings, and currently filmed scenes creates a tender portrait of a love affair in which small gestures and glances are able to express a deeper intimacy than words.

„Maite Alberdi's documentary celebrates love and the fight against forgetting. A tender and deeply political homage to a great couple. (TAGESSPIEGEL)

„The Eternal Memory won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
