RICKERL - MUSIC IS AT MOST A HOBBY

Film screening at the Kulturscheune Eibenhof

The pubs in Vienna's working-class district are Erich „Rickerl“ Bohacek's living room and stage: amidst the thick cigarette smoke, he plays his way nightly for pocket money straight into the hearts of those who hang out there every night anyway. While Rickerl's ex-girlfriend Viki lives a comfortable, bourgeois life with her new boyfriend, he scrapes by with odd jobs and doesn't have enough money to take his six-year-old son Dominik to the cinema. Rickerl, a free spirit and a chaotic character at the same time, constantly gets in his own way. Only when he is in danger of losing everything does he find his very own, wonderfully quirky solution to get his life back on track.

In RICKERL – MUSIC IS AT MOST A HOBBY, Adrian Goiginger stages a comedy as melancholic as it is emotional, full of music, passion, and hearty pub banter. Austrian singer-songwriter Voodoo Jürgens, whose songs are closely interwoven with the plot, lends Rickerl his musical soul in his first leading role.

«A lovely little tribute to the Viennese scene and the many facets of Austropop. „Very cool - awesome!» Programmkino.de

«Hope and abuse, depth and lightness, touching and entertaining. In his new film „Rickerl – Musik is höchstens a Hobby,“ Adrian Goiginger manages to let all of that coexist effortlessly.» noen.at

Following the film, a discussion with actress Agnes Hausmann.
