Youth Projects 2024

The youth program of FILM WITHOUT BORDERS is diverse and changes from year to year.

Film and encounter workshops, youth jury sessions in the cinema, screenings for school classes during the festival, as well as numerous social and creative projects take place.

The work is vibrant, individual, and oriented toward current themes and the annual festival motto.

Youth jury

As in recent years, a youth jury is helping to shape the festival's program. For five days in July, the jurors from an 8th-grade class at the Maxim Gorki School in Bad Saarow will meet. At the Cinema by Velotel in Bad Saarow, they will watch five films, from which they will select two for the youth program through democratic decision-making processes.

The youth practice democratic decision-making, watching and discussing films that deal with complex themes, and assume creative responsibility as programmers.

In September, the youth jury presents the two films to young people and invited school classes from throughout the district during the festival.

Resume Project

At the refugee accommodation "Am Fuchsbau" in the Oder-Spree district, our team supports the dedicated staff and creates resumes with residents that they can submit to the job center, when looking for housing, or to potential employers.

Participatory film projects

As always, working with young people in the district results in various films that will be presented at the festival. This year, we are accompanying young people who are actively participating in democratic processes in their region.

The films created in the youth projects of recent years toured the whole world after their premiere at the International FILM WITHOUT BORDERS Festival in Bad Saarow and received prizes and awards. In this way, the work of FILM WITHOUT BORDERS becomes visible everywhere.

The attention brought people together and strengthened the self-confidence of the participants, who found a new perspective on themselves and their actions.
