Cocoon

A young girl from Berlin struggles with growing up and her own identity. Leonie Krippendorff's coming-of-age film tells the story of a young woman's self-discovery and coming out in an understated way and through shimmering images.

Nora grows up in the middle of the capital. There, she meets all sorts of people from all over the world. But even that does not make growing up any easier for Nora. Her sister and her best friend only seem to care about fashion and social media. Nora cannot really find her place and nothing seems to make her happy. Then she meets Romy (Jella Haase), who teaches her to stand up for herself.

Lena Urzendowsky plays Nora's delicate fragility and simultaneous strength with great presence. A strong film, with a clever script and great tenderness for its characters and their conflicts.
