On the Greek island Arki live only 30 residents, including the only child, Kristos. The 10-year-old is the son of a shepherd family and is in his last year of primary school. The classroom becomes a chamber play between the only student and his teacher, Maria, who sees great potential in Kristos. She advises the parents to send Kristos to a boarding school for secondary education. Kristos's father, however, wants him to stay on the island and, like his brothers, become a shepherd in the family tradition. The film has won numerous awards, including the SOS Children's Villages Worldwide award at Doc.fest: “The film meets the boy at eye level and dives into his thoughts. A moving insight with visual radiance. With very poetic, slow images, director Giulia Amati captures the boy's burden, who seems to carry all the happiness of the island on his shoulders...“ (Excerpt from the jury's statement)
