FILM OHNE GRENZEN presents three short films on the theme of CONFIDENCE (Festival Opening, August 31). The films were created as part of the „Die Insel“ (The Island) format, a project by the Filmuni Summer School for study preparation for refugees and migrants. „Die Insel“ was conceived in 2016 by Barbara Albert and Jean Boué, who has led the workshop ever since. Participants from nine nations created three films on the theme of confidence, each one distinctly different. The result was one fictional work, one documentary work, and one experimental film.

Following the screening, the filmmakers will share insights into their experiences.

Film screening „Farm Rebellion“

The German documentary series „Farm Rebellion“ (exclusively available on Disney+) sheds light on the work at the Brandenburg farm „Gut&Bösel,“ which can be imagined as a kind of „farm of the future laboratory.“ Over the years, farmer Benedikt Bösel has gathered many young people around him who specialize in sustainable agriculture and forestry, having traveled around the globe for it and acquired knowledge from luminaries in Kenya, Brazil, and other parts of the world. On approximately 1,000 hectares of agricultural land and 2,000 hectares of forest, the team has been testing various approaches for several years to find real solutions for sustainable and climate-neutral food production. The project is supported by funding from politics and research.

„Land use is by far the most important thing concerning us humans. It is always the solution worldwide for climate change, biodiversity, health, rural development, and even equal opportunities,“ said Benedikt Bösel, farmer, agricultural economist, and entrepreneur, on Deutschlandfunk. Doris Dörrie had the idea for this series.

Benedikt Bösel will discuss the future of agriculture with organic farmer and managing director of the Brodowin eco-village Ludolf von Maltzan before the screening.
