Offering a captivating look at the dark sides of Iranian society, „Empty Nets“ takes us into the world of young Amir, who, after losing his job, is hired by a shady fishing company. Driven by the urgent need to raise the dowry for his beloved Narges, Amir's extraordinary talent as a diver is discovered and cleverly exploited, drawing him deeper and deeper into the vortex of his employers' criminal activities.

In an impressive manner, „Empty Nets“ outlines a sociogram of Iranian society. It illustrates that the path to crime is not merely a conscious step, but rather the result of various circumstances into which individuals are born or drawn. At the same time, the film reveals the transformative power of desires which, even amidst seemingly insurmountable adversities, can mature into driving ideas and motivations.
