We are very pleased that the German Postcode Lottery has been a sponsor of FILM OHNE GRENZEN e.V. since this year. What exactly makes your company so special?

Friederike Behrends: The German Postcode Lottery is a major charitable social lottery with a unique concept: players can win something every day, every week, and every month while supporting good causes, especially in their local neighborhoods. Participants win together with their neighbors while doing good at the same time. This is because at least 30 percent of all ticket sales go to projects in the fields of equal opportunity, social cohesion, and nature and environmental protection. Thanks to the numerous participants in Germany, since our launch in 2016 we have already been able to support over 4,400 social and green projects with more than 175 million euros. Postcode lotteries now exist in five European countries, and with over 12.5 billion euros raised, the Postcode Lottery Group is one of the largest private charity donors in the world. The mission is to make the world a better place for people and nature, together.

Why do you support FILM OHNE GRENZEN?

Friederike Behrends: FILM OHNE GRENZEN creates a special meeting place in Brandenburg where very different people can watch specially selected films and discuss them and related topics, all in the context of humanity. Places for encounters and exchange, especially on this topic, cannot be supported enough in these challenging times. That is why we are happy to support this commitment, because an important contribution to cohesion in our society is being made here. We are convinced that the world benefits from strong non-profit organizations.

The German Postcode Lottery does not „just give money“ but also promotes exchange within its „funding family.“ How important is the networking of projects to you?

Friederike Behrends: We are thrilled that the Postcode family in Germany has been growing steadily since 2016. With the increasing number of funded organizations, more and more intersections are also emerging between the organizations we fund and various topics. We actively promote exchange and also help with networking, because we are convinced that we can only change and achieve things together. Something truly great and sustainable can only emerge when people and organizations join forces instead of everyone working in isolation. And this applies not only to our funded families, but to all of us.
