SCHULKINO 2021 - FILM OHNE GRENZEN

As part of FILM OHNE GRENZEN Youth Programmes we will again invite students from the Oder-Spree district to film screenings with subsequent discussion rounds on the festival Thursday and Friday.

in a Workshop entitled „We are the jury“ have students from Beeskow, accompanied and guided by Media artists Anna Faroqhi and Haim Peretz, watched films together and discussed them for a week. In the process, the young people not only trained their perception and their ability to describe what they saw. They also acted as a jury and decided which of the films would be shown in the school cinema at FILM OHNE GRENZEN 2021 on festival Thursday. Actor Steve Windolf will following the screenings discuss the films with the youths as part of his commitment to the Daimler Corporate Citizenship Initiative WE CARE WE DO WE MOVE discuss.

Another school cinema screening will take place on the festival Friday at Cinema Bad Saarow. In cooperation with the Heinz Sielmann Foundation nature filmmaker Jan Haft presents his film HOMELAND NATURE.

Thursday, September 2, 2021 FILM WITHOUT BORDERS School cinema in the Kulturscheune:

From the jury statements: The film tells of a family's yearning to be accepted in a country that is new to them. (Lars) The film tells of racism and immigration in a humorous yet educational way. This is important for teenagers. (Sophie)

12:00 PM FEVER – THE BATTLE AGAINST MALARIA (Austria, Germany and Switzerland), directed by Katharina Weingartner

The documentary shows aspects of the fight against malaria in East Africa. While the African protagonists have their say, the narrative establishes connections to colonial structures and capitalist greed.

From the jury statements: The people in East Africa yearn for health and normalcy. We have known this longing and the rapid spread of a disease at the latest since Corona, which is why the film also appeals to young people here. (Paul)
One must realize that colonial structures still prevail. Without this knowledge, one cannot do anything against it. (Lucy)

Friday, September 3: Film Ohne Grenzen School Cinema at Cinema Bad Saarow:

11:00 AM HOMELAND NATURE (Germany), Director: Jan Haft

Home is where we grow up or settle down permanently. And this home is always shaped by nature as well. Today, humans are changing and shaping this nature more than any law of nature. HOME NATURE is a visually stunning journey through the nature of our homeland, from the peaks of the Alps to the coasts and into the depths of the North and Baltic Seas. In between lies a cinematic foray through steaming forests, shimmering moors, and the colorful cultural landscape around our villages and cities. Nature and its transformation are captured and depicted in beautiful images. Because nowadays, humans are intervening in it more than ever before.

With this film, Jan Haft, who is considered one of the best nature filmmakers in the world, has created a wonderful declaration of love for our native habitats and the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature.

Following the film, there will be a discussion on the topic „Homeland Nature: Quo Vadis Biodiversity?“ with director Jan Haft.
