Thumb

Two travelers, two destinations: A terminally ill German-Iranian doctor wants to visit old university friends once again and consciously say goodbye. His son Keywan hopes that their journey together will cure his father or convince him to have an operation. Director Moritz S. Binder received the Starter Film Award of the City of Munich for this haunting chamber drama in road movie format.

Frankfurt, Reims, Liège: on their journey in the old Mercedes, father and son enter countless transit rooms. Memories come alive; waiting rooms, corridors, hotels and rest stops become symbols of origin and destination, departure and arrival. A slight injury to Keywan's thumb is not the only wound that has to be treated en route. And yet the journey brings the two of them together.
