PETRA KELLY - ACT NOW!

Film screening at the Kulturscheune Eibenhof

This film brings a major figure of German history back into the spotlight. Close companions and friends share their insights into the personal and political life of Petra Kelly for the first time. Through previously unreleased international archival footage, a portrait is drawn of an empathetic and steadfast woman who let no one slow her down.

Petra Kelly was an extraordinary fighter for peace and the environment, far ahead of her time. As a co-founder of the Greens, she became a symbolic figure of the European peace movement and engaged in dialogue with civil rights activists such as Wolf Biermann and international activists like singer Joan Baez. Even 40 years ago, Kelly called for a radical societal transformation and saw environmental, peace, and human rights issues as inseparably linked.

„PETRA KELLY – ACT NOW!“ honors her legacy and inspires young people to advocate for the protection of our planet. Her belief in civil disobedience remains relevant today: „We break laws because we count on a higher law.“
